Mitsotakis expresses horror and sorrow at Hamas' terrorist attacks against Israel

Benjamin Netanyahu and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met on Monday in Jerusalem. The prime minister expressed his horror and sorrow at the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel during the meeting.

Israel has a legal right to self-defense, according to Mitsotakis, who also emphasized this.

He reemphasized the importance of safeguarding civilians, releasing the Israelis held hostage by Hamas, and preventing a humanitarian emergency.

At the beginning of their meeting, the prime minister and Netanyahu had the following conversation:

Prime Minister, my dear friend Kyriakos, I'm so happy to see you here, says Benjamin Netanyahu. The best thing, besides supporting Israel, is being in Israel, I always say. In this trying time, I appreciate your government's and the Greek people's solidarity. It is a conflict between civilization and barbarism. We must all work together to defeat Hamas, which is the Islamic State (ISIS), because we are on the side of civilization.

By Kyriakos Mitsotakis Dear Bibi, thank you very much, Mr. Prime Minister. I come here as a true friend, not just as an ally. The events that occurred were horrifying. Greece has always supported and defended Israel's international law-compliant right to self-defense. We distinguished clearly between Hamas and the Palestinians. We will continue to be there for you and pray that whatever transpires will not come at a great human cost. You can rely on our assistance and support.

Netanyahu, Benjamin I'm grateful, my friend. I'm grateful.
