Twelve defendants appeared before the Thessaloniki investigator on Monday following the violent incident that occurred on Sunday in Thessaloniki between Aris and PAOK soccer fans.
Two of the team's supporters were seriously hurt during the
incident and underwent surgery before receiving intensive care treatment at the
George Papanikolaou General Hospital in Thessaloniki.
The two injured people and a 16-year-old were among the 15
people the police said they had arrested. The last three were charged with
various offenses, including possession of an illegal weapon and bodily harm,
but they were later released.
The defendants, who range in age from 16 to 37—the majority being in their 20s and 25s—will remain in detention until they enter a guilty plea.
Twelve motorcycle helmets, over ten crowbars, a fire extinguisher, an iron chain, and video footage of a person holding an axe were discovered and taken from the scene by the police.
